Babysitting the Fledglings Irritable. That's what Harlequin felt to the highest extent at the moment. She had been placed to watch over the new humans while they trained. To help them improve in combat as well as to make sure they didn't hurt themselves or one another too much. In other words, Quin was in charge of babysitting. An awful job for someone like her. She tried keep contact with them to a minimum, especially because hardly any of the humans that were training at the moment made even a five on her one to ten scale of appearance.
Instead of going down to train, she sat on a rock in her panther form, hoping that it would scare them off and that her master would soon appear to praise her as well as relieve of her babysitting duty. She kept her eyes closed for most of the time, baking in the sun while its rays glinted off her glossy black fur. There were very few times where she felt the need to lift an eyelid. On the other hand, there were more times than she could count where she wanted to place her big paws over her sensitive ears to block out all of the useless noises.
Of course, there was always something that had to ruin any sort of tranquility. Harlequin just figured that it would be the Kurori and not the god forsaken new humans...
"H-Hey, why is there a panther here? It's always here. It's sort of scary, ya know?" whispered one of the humans to a buddy of his. Unfortunately, Quin's ears caught them speaking.
"It's Melophane's pet," the man's friend replied, equally loud to Quin.
"...Kurori people are weird huh?"
And Quin was off. She was like a bomb ticking away time and waiting for the perfect moment to become impulsive in every single way possible. She first padded towards them, her left eye glowing brightly. She was seeing through them and at their souls. They weren't bad ones and had no awful intention from what she saw, but she was pissed.
"A-Ah! H-Hey there, ki-kitty?" the first man stammered. Quin pushed off her front paws only to land her huge paws on the man's shoulders, pinning him down. She reverted back to her human appearance, eyes burning with anger.
"Holy crap! It's a chick!" the man's friend exclaimed.
"Well no shit, Sherlock. I'm glad an imbecile like yourself can figure that out." Quin turned back to the man she was now straddling. She pulled out her katana and watched as the fear spread on the man's face. She leaned in closer, her shadow casting over the man.
"Let's get one thing straight. Melophane isn't like of the rest of those bloody Kurori so don't even lump him together like that. Especially if you're going to be fighting for the human race on Melophane's side. Get your facts straight. Fact one being I can take your life and soul. Fact two being I can do this because your life? Yeah, it's not that important. You, sir, are very replaceable."
[/i] The blade of her katana lightly grazed over the man's neck. His face had gone pale and Quin was enjoying herself quite a lot. It was possibly the most fun she'd had during any of her babysitting duties. The girl couldn't help but feel herself tempting to kill him and retrieve his soul for Mel. Just in case he needed it... In a mood.. again
Melophane was busy as always. His mind had been clouded lately and he had much going on. He didn't have time to relax anymore which made his small migraine even worse. This morning in particular had the Kurori on edge. He had been confronted by a few of the soldier on his side. Apparently they had been attacked. Kurori's underlings, Kaito where making there way into Urecules. Mel had been at work non stop this morning because of it. He had to find out a way to stop them from entering. So he had been all over Urecules setting up barriers with his magic to keep them out.
They may be demons but none of them could brake a Kurori's spell. Not by a long shot. The way he put them up however was that those on his side could pass while others from Erebus could not. So by the time Mel had returned he was completely exhausted. Most of his energy had been taken by putting up the barriers and the man was completely exhausted. He could barely move and didn't have the attention span for anything. It was during these times that Mel had the most trouble with the humans he cursed. For it was during these times he wanted their souls.
Mel walked away from them fast. He needed to be in his study. If he wasn't there was no telling what he would do. He had promised himself that he would not kill humans anymore. He couldn't. WOULDN'T. It was the whole reason he locked himself up at times and made Quin stand at the door. She wouldn't let him out until his body had recovered enough so that he was no danger to anyone around him. Or at least that tended to work. Today, just seemed to be a bad day for the man.
As soon as he had locked the door to his office it wasn't five minutes until the phone on his desk went off. They usually never called him unless there was an emergency. With a very, VERY huge sigh Mel picked up the phone and put it to his ear. With a very defeated voice he asked the most basic question. "Yes.. what is it?" he mumbled. The voice on the other line was frantic and Mel could barely understand but he got enough of it. One word said it all. QUIN.
Mel, normally, would of trusted the girl to her own. It was what the person on the line had said that made him freak. Her blade was to his neck. If there was one, just one drop of blood spilled Mel would go on a rampage. Especially at the state he was now. Mel could barely move but he got up slowly. His body hurt from the magic he had let escape from him. He wanted to collapse but couldn't. He had to get to Quin, he HAD to. He left his office and moved with grace but it was chopped by his weariness and lack of strength.
When Mel reached the training grounds he could barely move and had trouble doing so. He saw her. She was on a man who he thought had been classified as a warrior. He wasn't positive though. He watched for a moment before he let his very faint and stress filled voice flow. "Q-Quin.. please.. stop.." he mumbled. Mel could barely stand and hid his distress by leaning against a wall. It was bad enough some of the humans didn't trust him.. if they knew he was in danger.. who knew what they would do.
Mel watched her. He could feel the human's pulses as he stood there but tried to ignore it. Tried very hard. He could feel his eyes turn to their dark red color. He didn't have much time before his "other" side got loose. He looked up ignoring some of the stares he got from the humans. "QUIN! NOW! LETS GO!~" that one was filled with authority. It sounded more like him. Quin knew him better though. She would probably be able to tell easily that his voice was lined with pain an urgency. He truly needed her now.. he truly.. needed Quin's help if he wasn't to kill any of these humans here.

Babysitting the Fledglings
All she needed was a few more seconds. That's all it would truly take. A second or so to behead the man and a few more moments than Quin expected to obtain the cursed human's soul for Mel. Harlequin grinned a Cheshire Cat grin at the thought of being of use to Melophane and being able to feed him the souls he desperately needed.
She was well aware of her surroundings. The panic and chaos frenzy that went off around her, the fear she had induced into the fledglings, and to the phones to call Melophane. To avoid a useless headache, she closed her right eye. All she could see what the souls of living things taking place of anything in her sight. It was all she needed to see anyway. In her eye(s) now, it seemed like a simple game of cat and mouse if not mice. There were so many good souls that Harlequin could snatch in a few minutes and brings back to the man.
"Q-Quin.. Please.. Stop.."
The voice was too familiar. It caused a noticeable pause in her fluid motions. She knew it was her master. She knew she had to stop. The stress in his voice seemed to stop from every word but she wanted desperately to ignore him. With even a little soul like this guy's, Melophane's stress levels would go down. His body, physically, would be less stressed but she couldn't. Melophane would hate it. He might not say that he hated it, but he would.
"QUIN!! NOW!" the girl shuddered from her frozen stature, "LET'S GO!"
She hated the way his voice sounded right then but she loved it as well. It was powerful but her ears would not deceive her of what his voice was lined with. Urgency to be restrained from that side. Harlequin moved fast. If you hadn't been paying attention very well, she would have just disappeared before your eyes. And if you were her target... you would've died before you finished reading this sentence. Luckily, you aren't her objective. Her objective was to get Melophane to his office. So then he could calm himself, so then he wouldn't seem like he's suffering so much, and so then...he wouldn't have to use such a scary voice because it was so loud for Harlequin.
She was now at Melophane's side. The girl pulled out from her pocket a leash. Not a normal one, no, a much different one. A double-sided leash. She clipped it onto her choker before wrapping attaching it to Mel's neck area and locked it with a quick murmur of words. The ends of the leash glowed, signaling that it was locked. Quin shifted into her panther-self and went full speed towards Mel's office.
You see, the leash was specially designed for this duo. A leash for both to be in control in one another. Though either of them could lock the leash, it would take both of them to unlock it. In order to do this, they would have to reach an agreement, if they weren't, and then speak the phrase, "Negotiations have been reached to agreeable terms. Release." Of course, this would work only if said in the old Kurori demon language. One that only elder and middle Kurori, a handful of Kaito, and no humans (new species or not) knew of.
The panther girl continued forward in a beeline to get to the office. So far, she had little if no resistance from Mel at all... At least yet. She would hope that there was no need to use force.

Changing, right.. or wrong?
Melophane was finding all this too troublesome for his own worth. He should of never come this way. He should of gone straight to his office. If he had done that though... He wuold of never been able to control himself would of he? No. Probably not. There was only so much a door could do for someone as strong as him, weak or not. Melophane couldn't help but be a little happier when he saw Quin respond. She moved with speed his eyes could track easily but for others she would disappear within a blink of an eye.
Melophane looked to his side as he knew she would appear there. The pulsing of blood pulsed through his ears and he cringed away from it the pain just barely showing in his eyes. In the moment it took Melophane to cringe it took Quin to get THAT collar. Melophane turned toward her as he felt the collar lock around his flesh. Not just normal flesh either, his most vulnerable spot, his neck. His instincts kicked in without his say so and he tensed a bit as it wrapped around his neck.
He could feel it tighten into place finally. He let a low rumble sound in his throat. It was definitely getting worse. He saw her shift before she took off at what he thought was full speed. He easily kept up with her. That was when it started. The hunger.. the wanting. Then.. the change. Something pure black ripped from the demon's back. Wings glistened with color spread behind him. The rest of his body changed then as well. He became a bird.. a dark bird known none other than the trickster.
The only thing that didn't change was his red eyes. He, in this state could be easily mistaken for a Kaito. Melophane shrieked in this state. The collar was readjusted to his small body it still locked. Thank God. Mel had never shown this form to anyone and it would probably be a surprise to Quin. It wasn't over though. The bird flew above the cat before looking down on it. Then it zoomed ahead. Its speed was flawless and would probably take all of Quin to keep up. Not only that but the strength was beyond compare?! The bird could easily drag quin's huge form around even though she was ten times his size.
Mel sped forward not caring if Quin could keep up or not. It seemed the girl's worse fears where becoming a reality. Mel .. wasn't himself right now. Had no sense of anything. This bird.. was a shell ... a shell that wanted only one thing.. wanted death. The bird shrieked again. By now quin had to of figured out what was going on with the Kurori. If she didn't she would find out now. He zoomed past his own office not even recognizing the place. There was one objective in the bird's eyes.
The outside. Urecules.. was filled with humans. Blood, war.. and mostly soul's for a little black bird demon like him to make a living off of. It was in Quin's hands now.. If Mel got out in this state.. no human was likely to survive.

The sound of ripping caught Quin's attention as she looked behind her. Her currently red eyes had just barely caught onto what was happening. If she looked any later than she did, the girl would've definitely thought that the raven above her now was a normal Kurori. A raven..? Melophane can shift into a raven? The panther had stopped in her running and gazed in shock at the raven as it circled overhead. She only a few seconds to be dumbfounded before the Kurori raven had taken off... Towards Urecules.
Quin wanted time to stop. To pause even for a brief moment or so. She needed to think but there wasn't time. There wasn't time to think only to act. Because what was happening was a full-grown panther was being dragged a long the ground by a raven! It was degrading but there was hardly time to worry about that. There was a city of humans to worry about and the fact Melophane wasn't himself. She could tell by how things were right now, it wasn't right. Right now, he had the same mindset as every other Kurori that walked the Earth.
The girl shuddered and tried to bury her giant paws into the ground to slow down the bird but it was futile. It just ended up scratching up her paws and having them bleed a little. Quin winced. Melophane! Mel! she mentally cried out. She had to see.. She had to see it. Her red eyes shifted into their normal bright blue ones before letting her left eye glow brightly as everything around her faded except for souls.
Her body felt as if it had gone limp. It wasn't the same. His soul didn't look the same. Quin's eyes reverted to the red color and everything came back into focus but the image of Mel's current soul was there. Burned and etched into her memory. It was dark and screaming for one thing. The extermination of humans.
Harlequin felt heavy.. The lives of everyone in Urecules was depending on her. She shifted back to her human-self, a painful decision but a much needed one. Now the girl was lighter than before, much lighter. It made trying to slow down Mel a lot harder.
For the first few seconds of being human again, she managed to keep her balance as she skidded across the landscape as if she was jet skiing but the soles of her boots gave out. Quin lurched forward and tumbled to the ground.
A shriek escaped her lips as rocks and other debris dug itself into her visible skin and scraped her skin off in various places. Tears brought to her eyes. It hurt..
"M-Melophane..! Melophane!" she called out weakly, trying to endure the pain from being dragged on the ground. "Mel! This fucking hurts! STOP! P-Please! Mel! Think about it!" Tears fell as mixed with the blood that covered her pale body.
"MEL! You're not like the other Kurori! You know right from wrong! You resist your urges and you do what's right! You're saving the human race not going off to kill them! Mel! Remember?! Remember!!" she bellowed off into a rant that she hoped would trigger the Mel she knew.
She wouldn't last long if things were like this. Quin lost so much blood already and the pain wasn't helping a bit. She could feel bones that have already broken. Mel..
